I was absolutely thrilled that we would be out in Iowa for St. Patty's Day. Why? Because of the Leprechauns...and the traps we would build to catch them! Several years ago, I started a tradition to make Leprechaun traps with nieces and nephews...that way when we did catch them, we could get our 3 wishes or the Pot o' Gold. The kids prepared for this day by getting books about Leprechauns, and thinking of ideas to catch them...leaving out Lucky Charms or shiny gold wrappers to get their attention- they were prepared. So, all day on that Monday, Emily, Luke, Valerie and I made traps for the sneaky lil' green men. When they went to bed, the Leprechauns came during the night, but didn't get caught. However, they were so impressed by the lil' lad's and lassie's trap making ability, they left gold coins and green beads, glasses and hats for them... It was almost as amazing as Christmas with Santa Clause!
