Desert Rose

Many decades ago, my grandma hand painted some of the china in the set, "Desert Rose". This collection became very popular in the 1940s-1950s. Grandma even had her own set in her home, which we all loved and adored. Every time I saw this delicate china, I saw my grandma. She was beautiful and creative- delicate but strong- like this desert rose. When both of my grandparents passed away, I was fortunate enough to inherit a few pieces from this collection.

Yesterday, to my astonishment, I saw this collection, "Desert Rose", in my voice coach's amour. I was flooded with emotion and shared with her that my grandmother was one of many who helped paint this collection. She was touched by my knowledge and background of the treasured dishes, for, these were her mother's dishes- a family heirloom.

Random story- but for me...a tender mercy moment. It's the small and simple things that remind me of the bigger picture.
