Remembering Grandpa

The last few weeks, I have been able to reflect upon the wonderful life of my Grandpa Haslam.
Grandpa passed away the day before Thanksgiving- we think to join grandma for a bigger feast.

It was wonderful to have the family gather together and remember Grandpa and say our temporary goodbyes- for we know we can be together again.

There are a few things that have been impressed upon my mind that I always want to remember about him and his example.

Grandpa was steadfast in all that he did-Whether it be for work, living the gospel, or caring for my grandmother- he never wavered.
He loved his family and was so proud of all of them in all of their accomplishments and successes.
His memory was impeccable. He could even remember the name of my very first date-
and all of the details about his family.
Grandpa loved the gospel and his country and served in so many ways- I remember the first time that I went with him on a Grandpa-Grand-daughter date to the temple to do a session. I can recall the time when he finally opened up about WWII, and how it affected his life...It was such a sweet moment to share with him.
He LOVED buffets...the people at Chuck-A-Rama knew him by name.
I loved how he loved my sweet grandmother- pure, sweet, charitable, and perfect.

I can only hope that I can be just a strong, steadfast, loving, and kind as my grandfather was.

Inspiration

We were inspired by this shirt at the BYU vs. Oregon St. game...

we think that our shirt idea might be great too...

"And [Max] spoke many things unto his brethren...the wicked taketh the truth to be hard."

What do you think? :)

Do You Have A Ticket?

It has been a while since I have posted about my adventures in the hospital...I don't know if this one is really that funny- but to me- it was. It makes me wonder about what I will be like...when I am old.
Yesterday- Adele, a fellow co-worker and I went on a few draws together and decided to tag team a patient with a double set of blood cultures. He was an elderly gentleman, kind of on the onery and sarcastic side. Here are a few segments of conversations that we had.
"Why do you need my blood? I have been in here for 2 darn* weeks and I'm pretty sure it hasn't changed...all you do is poke me, take my blood, and it goes to the lab, results put on paper and shoved in my file...useless I tell ya...useless..."
As the nurse gave him medicine with a spoon of applesauce he replied, "I can do it...I can do it by myself...I don't need your help...wait a second...(as he stops and looks at the 3 pills in the spoon...) that white pill looks suspicious..."
And my favorite- as the aide and nurse are standing there waiting for us to finish, he says..."Get out of here Scott, just get out of here! Do you have a ticket for the next performance? (They reply, NO)...Then Get the Heck* out of here..."
I can't wait to get old...
